A superb pair of vintage Chesterfield leather lounge chairs dating from circa 1950, upholstered in beautifully aged dark tan leather.

These are exceptionally well-made chairs of great quality, with traditional horsehair filling and a substantial, generous size. They have wonderful proportions, with deep comfortable seats, broad arms and the classic Chesterfield form.

The dark tan leather has developed a fantastic rich patina over many decades, with beautiful variations in tone, depth and character throughout. Traditional brass studded surrounds provide the finishing detail and complement the aged leather perfectly.

The chairs have a wonderfully substantial feel and are extremely comfortable, while retaining an elegant and well-balanced appearance. A particularly attractive pair of genuine vintage Chesterfields with the quality of construction and materials associated with pieces of this period.

The chairs are in good vintage condition with age-related wear consistent with their age and use, adding to the character and beautiful patina of the leather.

No two pieces finish the same — the patina develops naturally, just like fine leather luggage or vintage jackets.

The hand-dyeing process

Dyed by Hand, Not by Machine

Each hide is dyed by hand using layered techniques rather than sprayed or drum-coloured finishes.

The colour is built gradually, allowing depth, variation, and movement to develop across the surface.

No two hides take the dye in exactly the same way — and that’s entirely the point.

What you’re seeing isn’t a surface colour, it’s colour that lives within the leather!

The patina

The patina is created through a multi-stage hand-dyeing and finishing process.
