Vintage 1970s Arne Norell Swedish Tan Leather Swivel Chair & Footstool

Sale price£1,275.00

A beautiful vintage 1970s Swedish leather swivel armchair by the renowned furniture maker Arne Norell, accompanied by a wonderfully complementary matching footstool.

The armchair is a fine example of the exceptional quality and craftsmanship associated with Arne Norell furniture, featuring elegant Scandinavian styling, generous comfort and beautifully detailed hand-sewn leather edging.

Upholstered in gorgeous tan leather, the chair has a lovely warm colour and beautiful patina that brings depth, character and charm to the piece. The carefully hand-stitched edging is a particularly attractive detail, highlighting the quality of the upholstery and attention to craftsmanship.

The chair offers a wonderfully comfortable sitting experience, with its inviting proportions and practical swivel mechanism making it ideal for relaxing.

The accompanying footstool is a later addition rather than an original part of the Arne Norell design, but has been carefully selected to complement the chair beautifully. It is a very good-quality piece in its own right, upholstered in coordinating leather and standing on elegant solid rosewood legs.

Together, the chair and footstool create a stylish and exceptionally comfortable seating arrangement, perfect for a living room, study or reading corner.

A wonderful example of vintage Swedish design, combining the craftsmanship and timeless appeal of Arne Norell with beautiful leather, thoughtful detailing and outstanding comfort.

Family-run and rooted in restoration, we draw on over twenty years of experience to provide you with vintage pieces with the character — all finished by hand.

timeless pieces

the craft behind the patina

A slower way of making furniture — and the reason every piece feels different.

The Craft behind the patina

the craft behind the patina

Each sofa is dyed by hand using traditional pigments.

No two pieces finish the same — the patina develops naturally, just like fine leather luggage or vintage jackets.

The hand-dyeing process

Dyed by Hand, Not by Machine

Each hide is dyed by hand using layered techniques rather than sprayed or drum-coloured finishes.

The colour is built gradually, allowing depth, variation, and movement to develop across the surface.

No two hides take the dye in exactly the same way — and that’s entirely the point.

What you’re seeing isn’t a surface colour, it’s colour that lives within the leather!

The patina

A Patina Designed to Evolve

The patina is created through a multi-stage hand-dyeing and finishing process.

Over time, the leather continues to soften and deepen in tone through use, light, and touch, adding further character without losing integrity.

The result is a finish that feels established from day one and improves with age.

"Couldn’t recommend highly enough.
Absolutely love my sofa. And so does everyone else!"

Mark A.

"Brilliant pieces of furniture, great knowledge and you will not be disappointed. I bought an armchair after a visit to his warehouse. That in itself was a great experience. A hidden gem for now. Thank you!"

Michael K.

"They really are wonderful and we are delighted with our new chairs."
